The Dry Contact sensor is a simple connection to burglar alarms, fire alarms, or any application that requires monitoring by the sensorProbe. Dry contact sensors are user-definable and can be used to detect many different inputs such as UPS status, security systems, air conditioning status.
How does a dry contact work?
Dry contacts are known as passive contacts, as no energy is applied to the contacts. Dry contact simply operates like an ordinary switch that opens or closes the circuit. When the contacts are closed the current flows through the contacts and when the contacts are opened no current flows through the contacts.
Why is it called a dry contact?
No current: A dry contact is the synonym of volt free — it is not "wetted" by a voltage source. Dry contact can refer to a secondary set of contacts of a relay circuit which does not make or break the primary current being controlled by the relay.
What is the difference between dry contact and wet contact?

You can test the resistance across the coil terminals to see if the coil shows continuity or not. You should see some resistance, depending on the coil, it will be low or high, or somewhere in-between. The point is you don't want it to show open. If the coil is open then the relay is dead.

How do you check if a contact is normally closed?
